Our Mission

Our purpose is to be and function as a New Testament congregation to reach all people for Christ and congregation membership and through life-changing Bible study to lead them to care witness fellowship and worship.

About Us

Emmanuel Baptist Church is snuggled in the heart of the town of Melfort, SK Canada. Its roots go back to the fall of 1980 when a couple of local women wanted to bring a Southern Baptist Church to the area. They were approached by Jack Conner a Southern Baptist pastor; previously from the United States and started a small congregation. The original Church was named the First Southern Baptist Church of Melfort. It was pastored by Richard Mathisrud. Eventually, it found its location at 104 Stovel East. In 1999 the congregation made a reformation and changed their name to Emmanuel Baptist Church.

After the congregation grew and a new location was being investigated; an offer was made to purchase a building from the Nazarene Congregation which was selling their building. Emmanuel Baptist Church bought the building and its location; 112 Burns Ave E, which is where the congregation is presently meeting now. The congregation of EBC is known for their love, warmth, and hospitality among each other, especially to those who visit. We look forward to meeting you.

Affiliation

EBC is affiliated with the CNBC Canadian National Baptist Convention
What is Affiliation? There are 3 levels of affiliation with the CNBC. Each level has corresponding requirements and benefits. We hope that all our churches would work towards becoming a Level 3: Voting Member Congregation at their own pace, to maximize their participation in the CNBC.

Levels of Affiliation:

  • Level 1: Become a Church Plant
  • Level 2: Become a Self-Governing Congregation
  • Level 3: Become a Voting Member Congregation

EBC is currently a Voting Member Congregation. The CNBC is a network of churches that give themselves away for the kingdom of God. With over 400 churches across Canada, we believe that God’s primary vehicle for impacting the world is the local church.

We support Global Missions and other ministries of the CNBC with our monthly support from our Tithes and Offerings. These funds go to help support our national office and Global Ministries and Missionaries.
